Biography
Dr. Capani received his diploma as a Medicine Doctor, MD, at the School of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Buenos Aires,
Argentina, in 1993. He pursued studying Neurosciences and in 1997 achieved his Ph.D. degree at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA),
Buenos Aires, Argentina. He developed as a post-doctoral research fellow at the National Center for Electron Microscopy and Imaging Research
(NCMIR-UCSD-USA, Mark Ellisman Laboratory) between 1997 and 2002 and as a visiting scientist at the Department of Neuroscience
of the Karolinska Institute (Oleg Shupliakov Laboratory). In 2006, Dr. Capani joined the Department of Histology and Cell Biology at
the School of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires, as an Assistant Research Scientist of the National Research Council (CONICET)
Argentina, working at the Cell Biology and Neuroscience Institute “Prof. Dr. Eduardo de Robertis” (IBCN).. In 2008, Dr. Capani moved
to the Institute of Cardiological Research (ININCA. UBA-CONICET) where he was appointed as Vice Director of the Institute and Head
of the Laboratory of Cytoarchitecture and Neuronal Plasticity. In 2009, Dr. Capani was appointed as a Full Professor at the Department of
Biology of the John F. Kennedy University, Buenos Aires, Argentinian. In 2018, Dr. Capani was appointed as the Director of the ININCA.
UBA-CONICET. He has collaborated as a Visiting Researcher at the Federal University of Río de Janeiro, Brazil, the Marburg University,
Germany, the Greifswald University, Germany, the University of Catania, Italy, the University of Málaga, the University Javeriana, Colombia,
and the Institute of Histology and Embryology (IHEM), Mendoza Argentina.
